Read this before you buy a Powerwall anywhere
The warranty depends on who installs it.
Tesla's Powerwall warranty (European Warranty Region, Rev. 1.16, effective 3 December 2025) applies to a Powerwall purchased from Tesla or a Tesla certified installer, and installation, commissioning or repair by anyone else is a listed ground for voiding it.
In plain words: a Powerwall is not a battery you buy on price from whoever is cheapest this month. If the company that fits it is not on Tesla's programme, the ten-year warranty you are paying for may not exist. That is true of every installer, and it is why we put the condition on this page rather than in small print.
Where Green Tech Hub stands: ask us, and we will tell you in writing before you commit. If a specific Tesla programme status matters to you, we would rather answer the question directly than put a badge on a web page.
For a battery that does not carry that condition, our engineers' first recommendation for most homes is Sigenergy SigenStor, which we supply, install and commission, with Duracell Energy as the value option.

How a Powerwall install goes
Survey, G99, install, commission, aftercare.
Survey and model
An engineer surveys the roof, the consumer unit and the wall or floor the unit will sit on, and models generation and evening use from your smart-meter data.
Backup or not, fixed price
Backup Gateway 2 for outage cover, or the Remote Meter configuration without it; one fixed price with the warranty document attached.
G99 application
Tesla rates four Powerwalls together at 44 kW, 11 kW each, far above the 3.68 kW G98 limit, so a G99 application goes to your network operator before work starts.
Install to PAS 63100
Installed to the domestic battery fire-safety specification BS 7671 A4:2026 requires, by NICEIC-registered engineers, usually in a day.
Commission and aftercare
Backup circuits, tariff settings and the Tesla app set up with you; warranty registered; we remain the people you call.
Regulatory facts on this page: A G98 connection covers up to 16 A, which is 3.68 kW, per phase and is notified to the network operator after installation; anything larger needs a G99 application before work starts. BS 7671:2018+A4:2026 (published 15 April 2026) adds Chapter 57 for battery installations and requires batteries in dwellings to be installed to PAS 63100:2024, the BSI fire-safety specification for domestic battery storage. The 0% VAT rate on installing solar panels and batteries in homes runs to 31 March 2027, after which it reverts to the 5% reduced rate.

“Solar panels and battery does as it says on the tin. Harj looked after us from start to finish and was always on hand to explain or help us with anything with the product, even a year later. Panels and the equipment look good. I would recommend this company.”

Powerwall questions, answered straight
Are you a Tesla certified installer?
Tesla's UK warranty applies to a Powerwall bought from Tesla or from a Tesla certified installer, and names installation by anyone else as a ground for voiding it. So this is the right question to ask any installer, us included, and the answer should be in writing before you commit. Ask us and we will tell you exactly where Green Tech Hub stands on Tesla's installer programme; we would rather lose a sale than have you find out at a warranty claim. Separately, we are MCS-certified for battery storage and solar PV through NICEIC (NIC-600049), which is what your export tariff and your insurer ask for.
What does a Powerwall 3 cost installed?
Tesla publishes the hardware price on its UK site: £5,000 without the Gateway and £5,975 with it, excluding VAT, delivery and installation. The installed price depends on whether you want backup (the Backup Gateway 2) or not, cable runs, where the unit goes and whether a G99 application is needed, so we give you one fixed figure in writing. Installing a battery in a home is 0% VAT until 31 March 2027.
Do I need the Backup Gateway?
Only if you want the house to keep running in a power cut. A Powerwall installed with the Remote Meter instead of Backup Gateway 2 has no outage cover: it still stores your solar and shifts your tariff, it just will not carry the house when the grid drops. Most of our customers want backup, but it is your call and we ask it at survey.
How many Powerwalls can I have?
Up to four Powerwalls plus three Expansion units can be combined, seven units in total, 94.5 kWh. For a house one Powerwall is the usual answer; two is for a large home with an EV and a heat pump. The survey models it from your smart-meter data rather than guessing.
Will it work with solar panels I already have?
Powerwall 3 has its own integrated solar inverter, so with new panels the design is simple. With an existing array the survey decides whether the panels connect through the Powerwall or stay on their existing inverter alongside it; both are routine, and we tell you which before quoting.
What does the warranty actually cover?
Ten years, 13.5 kWh at installation and 80% capacity retention at ten years for the UK, with unlimited cycles for solar self-consumption, time-based control and backup; other uses are capped at 37.8 MWh of throughput. The condition that catches people is the one above: the warranty applies to units bought from Tesla or a Tesla certified installer.
