For your home · Duracell Energy
Duracell Energy battery installer for Birmingham and the West Midlands.
We supply and install Duracell Energy batteries and hybrid inverters. A UK-based range (Dura5 battery, Dura16 battery, Dura-i hybrid inverter) designed, tested and distributed from Toddington in Gloucestershire. It is the straightforward, well-priced answer when a modular stack is more battery than the house needs.
MCS-certified for battery storage and solar PV (NIC-600049) · We install across Birmingham, the Black Country, Worcestershire and Staffordshire from our base in Oldbury, and regularly travel 30 to 40 miles, Telford, Coventry, Shrewsbury and Stafford included. If you are on the edge of that, just ask.
Duracell Energy in short
- What it is: the Dura5 (5 kWh) and Dura16 (16 kWh) batteries and the Dura-i hybrid inverter in 3.6, 4.6, 5 and 6 kW sizes, which takes up to 10 kWp of solar.
- Backup: the Dura-i gives a 26.1 A uninterrupted power supply output and the Dura5 supports uninterrupted supply during an outage.
- Battery: the Dura5 is rated for 8,000 cycles, charges and discharges in about an hour and operates down to minus 10 C.
- Who makes it: Duracell Energy, based at Toddington in Gloucestershire, describes the range as designed, tested and distributed from the UK.
- Grid connection: the 3.6 kW inverter is a G98 notification; 4.6, 5 and 6 kW need a G99 application, which we handle.
- Who installs it: We supply and install Duracell Energy batteries and hybrid inverters. 0% VAT on home battery installation to 31 March 2027.
Where it fits
The value battery, chosen on purpose.
Not every house needs a modular stack with an EV module and whole-home backup. A three-bedroom semi with a 3.6 kWp roof and an ordinary evening load needs a few kilowatt-hours of storage that fills from the panels by mid-afternoon and runs the house until bedtime. A Dura5 with a Dura-i inverter does exactly that, and it costs less than the stack.
The second case is adding a battery to panels you already have. If your string inverter is nearing the end of its life, the Dura-i replaces it and adds the battery in one visit; the 10 kWp solar input covers every domestic roof we see. The Dura16 is there for larger homes, or for the house that has just added a heat pump or an electric car and now uses several times more electricity in the evening.
What we like as engineers is the support arrangement. The company is based in Gloucestershire, an hour down the M5 from us, and the range is designed, tested and distributed from the UK, which makes warranty conversations faster than with a brand whose nearest office is on another continent. When a modular system is the better answer we say so; see our Sigenergy SigenStor page for the comparison.

How a Duracell install goes
Survey, design, connect, install, aftercare.
Survey and model
An engineer surveys the roof, the consumer unit and where the battery and inverter will go, and models evening use from your smart-meter data.
Size and fixed price
Dura5 or Dura16, and the Dura-i size that matches the panels; one fixed price with the datasheet and warranty document attached.
G98 or G99
A 3.6 kW Dura-i is notified after installation under G98; 4.6, 5 and 6 kW units need a G99 application first, which we submit and manage.
Install to PAS 63100
Battery installed to the domestic fire-safety specification BS 7671 A4:2026 requires, by NICEIC-registered engineers, usually in a day.
Commission and aftercare
Backup circuit, tariff settings and the app set up with you; warranty registered; we remain the people you call.
Regulatory facts on this page: A G98 connection covers up to 16 A, which is 3.68 kW, per phase and is notified to the network operator after installation; anything larger needs a G99 application before work starts. BS 7671:2018+A4:2026 (published 15 April 2026) adds Chapter 57 for battery installations and requires batteries in dwellings to be installed to PAS 63100:2024, the BSI fire-safety specification for domestic battery storage.

“Solar panels and battery does as it says on the tin. Harj looked after us from start to finish and was always on hand to explain or help us with anything with the product, even a year later. Panels and the equipment look good. I would recommend this company.”

Duracell Energy questions, answered straight
Dura5 or Dura16: which size do I need?
It comes down to what the house uses between the panels switching off and bedtime. A 5 kWh Dura5 covers a typical evening for a smaller household and is the usual choice when a battery is added to existing solar. The 16 kWh Dura16 is for a larger home, or one with an electric car or a heat pump, where the evening load is several times higher. We model it from your smart-meter data at survey rather than guessing from the number of bedrooms.
Does a Duracell battery give me backup in a power cut?
The Dura-i hybrid inverter provides a 26.1 A uninterrupted power supply output and the Dura5 supports uninterrupted supply during an outage, so yes, a backed-up circuit can keep essentials running. Which circuits go on it is a design decision we make with you at survey; a fridge, lights, router and a few sockets are the usual set.
Is it a G98 or a G99 connection?
The Dura-i comes in 3.6 kW, 4.6 kW, 5 kW and 6 kW sizes. The 3.6 kW unit sits under the 3.68 kW G98 limit, so the network operator is simply notified after installation. The larger three need a G99 application before work starts, which we submit and manage. The inverter size follows the panels and the battery, so we tell you which route applies with the quote.
What is the warranty?
The warranty terms are on the datasheet for the exact model we quote, and we attach that document to the quote rather than summarise it on a web page. Green Tech Hub registers the warranty as the installer and handles any claim; aftercare is a large part of what we do.
Why would I choose Duracell over Sigenergy?
Cost and simplicity. A Sigenergy SigenStor is a modular stack that can grow with the house and includes an EV module and whole-home backup in one unit; that is the right answer when you are installing solar and a battery together and expect the load to grow. A Duracell Dura5 with a Dura-i inverter is a fixed-size system that does the core job, storing daytime solar for the evening, for less. On a small roof, or when adding a few kilowatt-hours to panels you already have, it is often the better value, and we will say which at survey.
