For your home · EV charging
Home EV charger installation, solar first.
A smart 7 kW charger on its own circuit, installed by NICEIC-registered engineers and set up to charge from your own panels before it touches the grid. We fit chargers on their own and alongside new solar and battery systems across Birmingham, the Black Country, Worcestershire and Staffordshire.
NICEIC Approved Contractor · MCS-certified solar and battery installer · We install across Birmingham, the Black Country, Worcestershire and Staffordshire from our base in Oldbury, and regularly travel 30 to 40 miles, Telford, Coventry, Shrewsbury and Stafford included. If you are on the edge of that, just ask.
The grant, without the spin
The EV chargepoint grant for households pays 75% of the cost of buying and installing a socket, up to £500, for renters and flat owners; landlords apply through a separate route. If you own a house with a driveway, there is no household grant for you, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. Source: www.gov.uk/electric-vehicle-chargepoint-grant-household
Solar first
The cheapest miles come off your own roof.
Grid electricity costs 26.32p per kWh under the Ofgem price cap for October to December 2026. Surplus from your panels would otherwise earn 12p exported. Putting that surplus into the car instead is the single biggest saving a solar home can make, and a solar-aware charger does it automatically by matching its rate to what the roof is producing.
With a home battery as well, the order matters: house first, then the battery or the car depending on the time of day and your tariff. We set those priorities up during commissioning rather than leaving you with defaults.
No panels? A smart charger still pays, because it can be scheduled to an off-peak EV tariff overnight. We do not quote tariff rates on this page because they change; we will show you the current ones at survey.
Smart 7 kW chargers from established manufacturers, tethered or socketed, on a dedicated circuit with the earthing arrangement the regulations require. The model is on your quote.
NICEIC-registered engineers employed by Green Tech Hub; the work is certified and your network operator is notified of the new load.
Solar-aware charging and battery priority set up together. Sigenergy SigenStor can also charge the car directly on DC through its optional EV module.
The engineer who installs is the one you call. App setup, firmware and any tariff changes are handled with you, not left to a helpline.

“Solar panels and battery does as it says on the tin. Harj looked after us from start to finish and was always on hand to explain or help us with anything with the product, even a year later. Panels and the equipment look good. I would recommend this company.”

Home EV charger questions
Can I get a grant for a home EV charger?
Only in specific cases. The EV chargepoint grant for households pays 75% of the cost of buying and installing a socket, up to £500, if you rent your home or own a flat and have your own private off-street parking space and an eligible vehicle. If you own a house, the grant is not available to you (unless the house is converted into flats and you live in one), and you cannot claim if you have already had the grant or its predecessors. Landlords apply through a separate route. We will tell you straight whether you qualify before you commit.
Will the charger use my solar power?
If you have panels, yes, provided the charger can see the generation. A solar-aware charger varies its rate to match surplus generation so the car charges on sunshine first, and if you have a home battery we set the priority order so the house, the battery and the car share the generation the way you want. Charging from your own roof is the cheapest electricity you will ever put in a car.
Does my electricity supply need upgrading?
Usually not for a single 7 kW charger, but it has to be checked. A 7 kW charger draws about 32 amps on its own dedicated circuit, so we look at the main fuse, the consumer unit and what else is on the supply, and we notify your network operator of the new load as the regulations require. Older houses with a 60 amp fuse or a shared supply sometimes need work first; we say so at survey, not on the day.
How long does the installation take?
Most installs are done in half a day: a dedicated circuit from the consumer unit, the charger on the wall or a post, earthing checked and the charger commissioned on your Wi-Fi and app. Longer cable runs, a new consumer unit or a supply upgrade add time, and we quote for them up front.
