Currently in the UK the energy price cap has doubled since the start of 2021. The price cap limits the rates a supplier can charge for their default products so as this continues to rise so does your bills. A good place to start, if you can, is to invest in solar panels and have them installed into your home. Solar panels will allow you to generate your own energy using the sun’s heat instead of relying on the national grid burning fossil fuels and your supplier.
How do solar panels work?
Solar panels absorb the heat energy from the sun with their built-in photovoltaic cells. This generates direct current (DC) energy which then gets converted into usable alternating current (AC) energy by specialist technology within the solar panels. The solar panels are connected to the mains of your house which allows the alternating current to flow through the home’s electrical panel. It is then distributed around the home to where it is needed.
If you are creating enough energy, daily, to run your home and you are no longer using energy from the national grid. So therefore you don’t need an energy supplier, as you are creating your own, which will eliminate your energy costs and avoid the rising prices. In some cases you may even create more energy than you can use at one time. With this additional energy you have two options. Solar storage or selling power back to the grid for other homes to use.
So how will this help?
Essentially over time you will become your own energy supplier with no energy costs to pay other than the maintenance of your solar panels. This means that your energy costs will not rise without your control. Unless you start using more energy than you can make and have to go back to using an energy provider again but if you invest in solar storage this shouldn’t happen.
